Snowflake Subtraction Freebie

But where is the snow?? It's mid November in Upstate NY and yet all I have seen is a slight dusting... a few weeks ago. How odd!

Normally I am NOT one to embrace the winter weather but it's generally because winter drags on and on and on and it's just plain grey and wet and cold and blah. But it's nice to get into the Christmas mood with some snow on the ground. I almost miss it.

Now don't remind me of this post in March. I'll be SO ready to be done with this winter by March. I'm sure!

But while I'm in the snowy spirit, I have created a snowflake dice game for my kiddos to play and I thought I would share it with all of you!

Basically, kids roll dice to determine the digits of their number. Kids use their great powers of strategy to determine where to put the digits to create the greatest difference. Kids subtract and find the difference. Kids compare with their partner. Kids crown the partner with the greatest difference victorious!!

You could certainly use "normal" dice but I may use the dice with the little stickers where you can write in your own numbers so that there are some zeros involved. What good is subtraction without zeros?!

So if you'd like the freebie just click on the picture above. Enjoy!
