I'm linking up with Jivey for Workshop Wednesday.
The seasonally appropriate theme this week is "Reading Tricks and Treats" and I have just the freebie to share with all of you! I wrote a few weeks ago about the close reading spider unit my students were working on.
When working on this unit, I created a number of graphic organizers that I could use with my students. At first, we finished the organizers together after a close read but now my older students are able to complete these on their own after reading a short story or article!
It has been a big push in my building this year that independent time be meaningful rather than "just for fun" reading. At first I had a big issue with this, as did many of my colleagues! We wanted to give our students opportunities to read whatever interested them and to get them to LOVE reading and didn't want to take away the choice that helps them to achieve this.
There are 5 graphic organizers in all. Click here to grab them! Enjoy!
